Mike Harmon is a bassist currently based in Brooklyn, NY.
Born and raised in Fargo, North Dakota, Harmon began playing music at an early age with his mother who worked as a full time church organist. After starting on bass and tuba in middle school, he continued on to a bachelors in music from North Dakota State University, and then a masters in music from the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign.
After leaving Champaign, Harmon embarked on a career as a freelance musician establishing himself in Chicago from 2012-2019 where he became an active collaborator and creative voice in the diverse creative music scene. His many collaborators included the likes of Avreeayl Ra, Dustin Laurenzi's Natural Language, V.V. Lightbody, Jimmy Bennington, the Goran Ivanovic Trio, and the behemoth improvising collective Jolie.
Harmon moved to Brooklyn in the summer of 2019 after releasing his first solo album, One Song, featuring frequent collaborators Greg Tuohey, Dan Pierson, and Matt Carroll. He now resides near Prospect Park, playing gigs, working on music, enjoying wine and or mezcal.
